Dhamala shines for Army in Karnali Premier League

KATHAMANDU, April 27: New Horizon Butwal and Tribhuvan Army Club won their respective matches during the second day of the ongoing Karnali Premier League in Surkhet on Friday.


In a Group B match, New Horizon defeated Mahendranagar Cricket Academy by 71 runs in the first match of the day.

New Horizon posted 166 runs in 20 overs for the loss of seven wickets propelled by player of the match Sunil Dhamala’s 60 runs from 40 deliveries which included eight fours and two sixes. 


In reply, Mahendranagar was limited to 95 runs in 19.1 overs losing all its wickets. Shakti Gauchan picked up three wickets supported by Dhamala and Bikash Shrestha’s two wickets each.


In the second game of the day, Army defeated Laligurans Cricket Academy by 58 runs. Army won the toss and posted 176 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Raju Rijal and Kushal Malla contributed 49 and 42 runs respectively to post the highest total of the day.


In reply, Laligurans scored just 118 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Jeetendra Mukhiya, Bhim Sarki and Hari Bahadur Chauhan shared two wickets each to help Army register a comfortable win. Malla further picked up a wicket to win the player of the match award.


Mid-western cricket club will face Karnali XI in the first match on Saturday followed by Armed Police Force versus Himalayan Cricket Academy.
