KATHMANDU, March 2: The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday established an election office at the New Baneshwar-based International Convention Center for conducting presidential elections on March 13.

The office, according to EC spokesperson Navaraj Dhakal, was established to expedite preparations for the presidential polls. "Justice Til Prasad Shrestha has been already named as chief election officer to conduct presidential elections," said spokesman Dhakal, "We are finalizing directives required to conduct the election."

After successfully conducting the three sets of elections -- local, provincial and parliamentary -- the election body is preparing to conduct the elections to elect president and vice-president. Presidential candidates have been asked to register their candidacy on March 7.  "We are planning to print voter roll once the candidates of presidential elections are finalized," said Dhakal.
