KATHMANDU, Mar 12:  Justice Cholendra Sumsher JBR has rejected to be part of Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli’s full bench that is conducting hearing against Dr. Govinda KC and Kantipur daily.

Yesterday, Parajuli had formed a full bench of justice comprising Om Prakash Mishra, Cholendra Shumsher JBR, Dipak Kumar Karki, Kedar Prasad Chalise, Sarada Prasad Ghimire and Tej Bahadur KC.

Following Rana’s withdrawal, the full bench of justice headed by Parajuli has collapsed. Furthermore, remaining justices didn’t appear for today’s hearing on the case.

Entering the Supreme Court alone, Rana issued an order stating "I am in no condition to be part of the bench as the Chief Justice has already retired. I am not part of his team.”

“Based on the credentials he had provided, he retired on Shrawan 21 itself.”

With conflicting dates regarding his birth, educational certificates, a case was filed against Kantipur daily and Dr. KC for contempt of court.

In its written statements furnished before the bench, Kantipur daily had stated that their news about the Chief Justice had not dishonored the court.

In an interim order on February 25, CJ Parajuli had directed the Press Council Nepal to probe news reports published by Kantipur daily that questioned inconsistencies in his birth date in official documents.
