Law on women being amended

KATHMANDU, Sept 11: The government is planning to revise the Women, Children and Social Welfare Act.


According to the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare (MoWCSW), the law is being amended with an aim to correct the discriminatory terms of language and redefine the crimes against women.

Sunita Nepal, Under Secretary of Human Trafficking Control Section, said that the definition of the crimes and derogatory words addressed to the women are being changed through the amendment. 


A committee is working to draft the amendment. “We are planning to revise the Act within the current fiscal year. There are 10 clauses to be revised,” said Nepal. 


“The Ministry is in the process of collecting suggestions from the public."
