Home minister assures he will seek World Heritage status for Gadhimai Temple

He also vowed seamless management of security in the wake of the Gadhmai fair, directing the Chief District Officer (CDO) to ensure the same.

BARA, Dec 4: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said the government will take an initiative to include the Gadhimai Temple of Bara district in the World Heritage Site list.


 


Saying that the temple located at Bariyarpur in the district would help Nepal make itself known to the world, Minister Lekhak expressed the government’s commitment to conserve the Gadhimai Temple.

He also vowed seamless management of security in the wake of the Gadhmai fair, directing the Chief District Officer (CDO) to ensure the same. “Mobilization of additional security forces is imperative,” he said.


 


The home minister met with the CDO and security chiefs of the district, instructing them to provide proper security during the Gadhimai fair.



Minister Lekhak urged the members of the Gadhimai fair organizing committee to install CCTV cameras at the temple to ease public worshipping during the fair.
