KATHMANDU, Feb 21: Nepal-Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) has been established to promote and boost bi-lateral trade, investment and other economic relations between Nepal and Israel.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat inaugurated the chamber in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by NICCI, Nepal is the first nation to recognize Israel. "The diplomatic relationship between Nepal and Israel was established on June 1, 1960. Israel opened its embassy in Kathmandu in March 1961," the statement added.

Shisheer K Bhatta is the president of the newly formed executive committee of NICCI, while Rabi Chandra Singh, JR (Sagar) Thapa and Hemanta Golchha are vice-president, secretary and treasurer, respectively. Similarly, Sailendra K Shrestha, Sandip K Sharda, Sudeep Acharya, Subashis Thapaliya, Prakash Dutel, Lokendra Karki, Kapil Dev Regmi, Bharat Raj Acharya, Nikhil Murarka, Sambridhi Gyawali, Bishnu Panthi, Sushil Khadka, Kishan Agrawal, Mani Chaulagain, Sreejana KC, Arjun Dharel, Mohan Lama, Tanka Raj Acharya, Birendra Pandey, Shiva Dangal and Binay Upadhyay are members in the executive committee.
