KATHMANDU, July 4: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday gained 12.73 points to close at 2,088.70 points.
The secondary market that opened at 2,075.97 points, gained a notable 29 points in the first 15 minutes of trading. The index however plunged thereafter to hit the day’s low at 2,067.93 points before the market again added around 21 points to close for the day.
In the intraday trading, 145 listed companies cheered with points added to their market values while 72 companies were recorded as losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chip companies gained 2.28 points.

All the 13 trading groups were gainers. Hotels and tourism added the largest of 133.34 points, while eight others gained double-digit points in their market prices.
According to stockbrokers, the market could not grow as expected due to an impact of the approaching fiscal year end, when the investors are under pressure to clear their financial liability. As a result, the turnover volume also declined by a significant amount.
The daily turnover amount declined hugely to Rs 2.576 billion from Rs 4.051 billion on Monday.
Among individual companies, Citizen Investment Trust had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 121.70 million. The company has recently announced to provide bonus shares to its shareholders.
City Hotel Limited was the biggest gainer, while BPW Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest percent of its market price.
