KATHMANDU, Dec 29 : New Road Mobile Expo 2016 kicked off at Pako, New Road, on Wednesday. 


Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki inaugurated the expo which is being organized by Nepal Mobile Traders Association.

According to the organizers, the expo, which has been organized on the occasion of New Year 2017, will showcase mobile phones of all brands available in Nepal. 


Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister Karki said that the government was starting startup fund to help Nepal Telecommunication Authority and Nepal Telecom. “We will attract youths to get involved in the information technology sector by utilizing the fund,” he said, adding that the government was planning to shift Gorkhapatra Corporation to Bhaisepati and build a park in the space vacated by the corporation.


Likewise, Purushottam Basnet, convenor of the expo, said that the expo will help to promote mobile business. “Customers will get branded mobile phones at a reasonable price. We have also brought different schemes and offers for the customers,” he said, adding that all the customer will get sure shot prizes.


Gaming zone, kid’s zone and food stalls are the other attractions of the expo. Similarly, one lucky buyer can win a smartphone daily through a lucky draw. 


The expo will conclude on January 3.
