PM, Speaker shun tea reception hosted by CJ Karki

KATHMANDU, May 9: The differences among Legislative, Executive and Judiciary were clearly visible on the Law Day following the impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Sushila Karki.

KATHMANDU, May 9: The differences among Legislative, Executive and Judiciary were clearly visible on the Law Day following the impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Sushila Karki.


Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Speaker Onsari Gharti, Law Minister Ajaya Shankar Nayak and Attorney General Raman Shrestha did not turn up at the tea reception hosted by CJ Karki on the premises of the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Karki had welcomed President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun at the tea reception program. She had also addressed the prime minister, speaker, deputy prime minister and ministers who were not present in the event. 


The absence of ministers has been viewed in connection with the impeachment of CJ Karki and the stay order issued by the Supreme Court, of late.


Speaking on the occasion, CJ Karki has urged all those concerned not to take the state organs as  rivals, stressing not to be guided by any kind of prejudices.


According to Govinda Acharya, press advisor of Prime Minister Dahal, the prime minister  had no schedule to attend the tea reception. The leaders of the major parties and the Madhes-based parties also could not take part in the event because of their busy schedules.
