KATHMANDU, Aug 6: Nepali Congress (NC)'s former General-Secretary Bimalendra Nidhi has stated that the government was preparing to endorse the constitution amendment bill from parliament by two-thirds majority.
During an interaction program organized by Nepal Student Union Province no 2 in the capital city on Sunday, leader Nidhi expressed his confidence that the an amendment in constitution could help address the genuine demands of the Madheshi community as well as of the political parties protesting the new national statute.
Nidhi viewed that following the constitution amendment, people of all faiths and from all indigenous communities would feel the ownership of the new constitution.
Deliberation continues on the constitution amendment bill
Stating that the NC and CPN-Maoist Centre led government had successfully held the local level elections in 67 of the 75 districts across the country, the former Deputy Prime Minister spoke of the need for the NC to conduct the third level of local election in eight districts of province no 2 on September 18.
Nidhi also urged the cadres and local leaders alike to help NC win 100 seats out of 127 local levels in province no 2 for which he underscored discussion and coordination among the cadres and leaders in the party.
Furthermore, he also accused the major opposition CPN-UML of holding the nation a hostage of indecision by waging anti-Madhesh activities and disputing every issue of national concern.
Also speaking at the program, NSU central member Firoz Alam expressed his confidence that the NC would emerge an ace party in the upcoming election in province no 2 provided the cadres of the party are active.
Present at the program were NSU former General -Secretary Umesh Jung Rayamajhi, NC province no 2 leaders Bharat Khadka, programme coordinator Sanjay Yadav, NC central member Mamata Mahato among others who echoed leader Nidhi when it comes to NC securing a win in the upcoming election. RSS
