Sensitizing againstdomestic violence

Women’s Forum was launched on Sunday at Hilton Hotel, Rosemont -- USA. During the launch event, a forum discussion on ‘Domestic Violence and Women empowerment’ was held where Radhika Sharma, Manager of Education and Outreach at Apna Ghar – Chicago, was presented as the speaker. The forum delivered various messages to the audiences regarding the topics through power points and speeches by several speakers.

Speaking at the event, the forum coordinator, Urmila Panthi explained, “Domestic violence is a practice against the law regardless of anyone’s immigration status." Further speaking, she suggested going through legal procedures if anyone came across such practices.


The forum included deep-rooted discussion on issues existing in the Nepali paternal societies, and some concurrent issues yet affecting women’s self-esteem and development in communities.
