THE GOD WE WORSHIP

Drinks fire, eats light Chews water, spits ice Originated in depths Lives higher than all
By Riddhi Gautam

Drinks fire, eats light

Chews water, spits ice

Originated in depths

Lives higher than all

Makes toys, plays with them

Destroys lives: creates them

Speaks music: sings the wind

Trips or falls: the universe spins

Moves as rains: dances as thunder

The entire universe revolves around its blunders

Sleeps as nights: wakes as days

Lives as forests: cries as oceans

Blinks as stars: smiles as moon

Its rage is the sun

Its embraces are the mountains

And nothing it earns

It screams as cities

Runs through city lights

Tells us something through the smoke

We’re living, not knowing what it spoke
