KATHMANDU, Dec 20: Senior Vice-chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Rabindra Mishra, took to his Facebook page on Wednesday to explain the party's rationale for organizing a mass movement advocating the reinstatement of a Hindu kingdom. In his post, he highlighted the “deep connection” among kings, royalty, Hinduism, Buddhism, culture, and civilization. While acknowledging diverse opinions, Mishra emphasized that “a Hindu nation without the linchpin i.e. the monarchy”, will not serve Nepal's long-term interests.
Expressing the party's stance, he clarified in the video posted in his facebook page saying, "We are not in favor of a Hindu nation without the linchpin i.e. the monarchy. A Hindu nation is intricately linked with the King and monarchy. Hence, we advocate for a Hindu Kingdom. Our objective is the reinstatement of constitutional monarchy based on the Sanatan Hindu nation with religious freedom."

Mishra claimed a shift in the views of those who initially disapproved of the concept of a Hindu nation and constitutional monarchy. He mentioned that lately Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has taken a step in this direction and said that everyone should view it positively. However, he said the people should be cautious, stating that a Hindu nation with democracy alone may not end the current mess in the country, “so there is the need for a linchpin institution, i.e. the monarchy.”
Responding to questions about convincing Deuba on the agenda of Hindu kingdom, Mishra said, "In the year 2062/63 BS, leaders and political parties made a ‘course correction’, and the people followed them. Now, the recent developments indicate the people have already made the course correction and the political leaders will be forced to follow suit.”
