Woman commits suicide after killing her two sons

LAHAN, Oct 9: A woman has committed suicide after killing her two sons in Dhanusha's Nagarain Municipality on Friday evening. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jitendra Basnet, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Dhanusha, Gudiya Shah, 24, of Fulga in Nagarain Municipality-7 strangled her son Abhishek, five, and Aditya, three, with a rope, before hanging herself from a ceiling fan.

LAHAN, Oct 9: A woman has committed suicide after killing her two sons in Dhanusha's Nagarain Municipality on Friday evening. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jitendra Basnet, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Dhanusha, Gudiya Shah, 24, of Fulga in Nagarain Municipality-7 strangled her son Abhishek, five, and Aditya, three, with a rope, before hanging herself from a ceiling fan.


DSP Basnet said that the incident took place before the woman’s husband Gurudev Shah, a daily wage earner, could return home. His wife and two sons were at home when he left for work yesterday. Gudiya had called Gurudev on his phone at 4PM on Friday afternoon.

According to the police, the youngest son was strangled to death with a cloth while the eldest son was strangled with a coconut rope. Police have recovered a mobile phone used by Gudiya from the spot.


Gudiya and Gurudev Shah had tied the nuptial knot 10 years ago and it was a love marriage. However, Gudia’s parents had not approved of it. “The exact reason behind the incident is not known yet,” said DSP Basnet.
