A total of 106,329 Nepali nationals brought home since the start of repatriation flights


KATHMANDU, Oct 14: As many as 1,097 Nepali nationals stranded in various foreign countries due to COVID-19 pandemic have been repatriated on Wednesday.


According to a press statement of COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC), 1,097 Nepali were brought back home on Wednesday. Most of the foreign returnees were from gulf countries.

A total of 498 Nepali migrant workers from Qatar, 156 from the United Arab Emirates, 353 from Malaysia and 91 from Saudi Arabia were repatriated on Wednesday.


Similarly, two foreign nationals and two dead bodies were also brought to Nepal on the same day.


The foreign returnees are currently staying at Provincial Holding Centers established by the Nepal Army.  


According to the CCMC, a total of 106,329 Nepali people have been brought home since the government launched repatriation flights to bring home stranded Nepali nationals as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
