11 including Gagan Thapa injured in bomb attack (with photos/video)

KATHMANDU, Dec 4: As many as 11  people including Nepali Congress candidate Gagan Thapa have been injured in a bomb attack at Budhanilkantha municipality on Monday afternoon.

KATHMANDU, Dec 4: As many as 11  people including Nepali Congress candidate Gagan Thapa have been injured in a bomb attack at Budhanilkantha municipality on Monday afternoon.


Gagan Thapa, NC candidate from Kathmandu constituency 4  was visiting voters on a door-to-door campaign at Mato Colony, Chapali when an unidentified group hurled a bomb, targeting Thapa. 


Thapa was rushed to TU Teaching Hospital for treatment. Thapa’s condition is out of danger. He has been discharged after preliminary treatment. His father-in-law Arjun Narsing KC had also reached the hospital to know the condition of his son-in-law Thapa.

Others injured in the bomb attack are receiving treatment at TU Teachding Hospital, Maharajgunj.


Thapa has sustained a shrapnel injury to his back. The condition of other five injured is said to be critical. The injured are Jaya Raj Lamichhane, Raj Kaji Shrestha, Purna Bahadur Shrestha, Rina Baruwal, Shyam Krishna Shrestha, Suman Khadka, Rabindra Karki, Chhabilal Shrestha, Parshuram Thapa and Dhruba Khadka.


The condition of Rajkaji Shrestha and Shyam Krishna Shrestha is said to be critical. Preparations are underway to carry out surgery on them to release the shrapnel.
