11th edition of Baksila Gold Cup to be held in March

KHOTANG, Jan 22: In order to speed up the development of football in the region, the Baksila Gold Cup Football Tournament was first organized 15 years ago. The 11th edition of the tournament will take place in March this year.

KHOTANG, Jan 22: In order to speed up the development of football in the region, the Baksila Gold Cup Football Tournament was first organized 15 years ago. The 11th edition of the tournament will take place in March this year.


With the aim of improving the professional development of the sport, the tournament was introduced in 2004 by the Baksila Football Club. The 11th edition of the prestigious tournament will begin from March 5 in Baksila, Khotang.

The date for the tournament was decided at a meeting on Tuesday, according to the president of the club Shiva Kumar Rai.


In the meeting on Tuesday, there were a few other agendas that were discussed as well, such as the prize money for the winners and competitors, the finances of the club and a few other topics regarding the last edition of the tournament, according to Rai.


The main intention and aim of the club in organizing the 11th edition of the tournament was to “motivate and encourage the footballers of the region, as well as to continue to improve and uplift the professional development of football at the grassroots level,” said President Rai.
