21-member squad for Bangladesh friendlies

KATHMANDU, July 9: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Friday announced a 21-member squad under the captaincy of Anil Gurung for the two international friendly football matches against Bangladesh. The matches are slated to be held in Bangladesh on July 15 and 17.

KATHMANDU, July  9: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Friday announced a 21-member squad under the captaincy of Anil Gurung for the two international friendly football matches against Bangladesh. The matches are slated to be held in Bangladesh on July 15 and 17.



The squad, picked up by head coach Gyotaku Koji, comprises three goalkeepers -- Kiran Kumar Limbu, Bikesh Kuthu and Bishal Shrestha.



Biraj Maharjan, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Ananta Tamang, Aditya Chaudhary, Jitendra Karki, Devendra Tamang, Rabin Shrestha, Ranjit Dhimal and Man Bahadur Tamang are the nine defenders of the team.



Similarly, five midfielders Sujal Shrestha, Bishal Rai, Rajendra Rawal, Anjan Bista and Suman Lama also made into the final squad.



Nawayug Shrestha, Bharat Khawas, Ranjan Bista and skipper Anil Gurung are the forwards for the team.

Raju Kaji Shakya and goalkeeping coach Ujjwal Manandhar will assist head coach Koji during the tour.


Nepal is taking the friendly as the preparation for the AFC Solidarity Cup slated for November 2 to 11. Venues are yet to be decided.



Recently, Bangladesh has been one of the main destinations for Nepal for footballing activities as it played friendly against the opponent before the SAFF Championship and also participated in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup that Nepal won.



Nepal also played friendly matches against Malaysia U-22 and Lao recently.
