DHADING, Oct 6: Cases of dengue infection have steadily gone up in Dhading since the past two weeks. As of now, 27 cases of dengue have been detected in the district by local clinics and the district hospital.
The infection is especially high at the district headquarters and the surrounding areas. Terror has gripped the locals with the rise in cases of dengue.
According to Medical Superintendent Gaurav Mahato of the district hospital, the best defense mechanism would be to seek and destroy the larva that causes dengue.
A team from Epidemiology and Disease Control Division form the capital has reached Dhading for research and awareness campaign. The team has initiated mission to seek and destroy mosquito larvae in collaboration with the district hospital. Local youths have volunteered to support the project.
The district hospital is witnessing a drastic rise in the number of patients coming for checkup to see if they have been infected by dengue or not. Most of those patients opting for diagnosis of dengue have fever. When they are tested positive for dengue, patients usually rush to capital-based hospitals.
According to the locals, dengue infection has increased due to inefficient waste management.
