27 out of 28 stolen Jumla idols found in forest

JUMLA, Jan 4: Police on Tuesday recovered 27 out of the 28 idols stolen from the renowned Chandannath Temple of Jumla last month.

JUMLA, Jan 4: Police on Tuesday recovered 27 out of the 28 idols stolen from the renowned Chandannath Temple of Jumla last month.


Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Madhav Nepal, chief of the Midwestern regional police, informed that a police team under the command of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Guru Bishnu Kafle deployed from the District Police Office, Jumla, found the idols scattered inside a forest in Garjyangkot VDC.

According to him, an additional team of police has been sent from the District Police Office to the place to bring the stolen idols back. 


Former chairman of Chandannath Guthi Management Committee, Gauri Nanda Acharya, said that the biggest among the idols, the Dattatreya idol, has yet to be found.


A large crowd has gathered outside the temple since the morning.
