32 districts report fire in 177 forests

KATHMANDU, Mar 27: With the onset of summer, cases of forest fire are on the rise in the country. To date, 177 forests of 32 districts have reported the incidents of wildfire.

KATHMANDU, Mar 27: With the onset of summer, cases of forest fire are on the rise in the country. To date, 177 forests of 32 districts have reported the incidents of wildfire. 


Those districts are Arghakhanchi, Bara, Bhojpur, Chitwan, Dang, Dhading, Dhankuta, Dhanusha, Doti, Dolakha, Dadeldhura, Gorkha, Jumla, Kavre, Kapilvastu, Mahottari, Nawalparasi, Okhaldhunga, Panchthar, Parsa, Rautahat, Rasuwa, Sindhuli, Solukhumbu, Sunsari, Saptari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Surkhet, Tanahu, Tehrathum and Udaypur, according to the Department of Forests.

Department assistant forest officer, Dambar Bahadur Bhandari, further details about the loss caused by wildfires are still awaited. 


Records show that a total of 350,000 hectares of forest area was destroyed by fires last year . RSS
