KATHMANDU, July 22: The 37th BP Memorial Day was marked by organizing various programs across the country on Monday.

Sahid Smriti Pratisthan organized an event to observe the BP Memorial Day in the capital, which was attended by senior Nepali Congress leaders including President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala has paid tribute to her grandfather on his 37th memorial day. Remembering him, Koirala posted BP Koirala’s few pictures in her twitter account and mentioned ‘Remembering BP ba on his 37th death anniversary’.

Today was the day when Koirala, the first democratically elected prime minister of Nepal was detained for eight years after the royal coup in 1960.

Born to a middle-class family on September 8, 1914, Koirala led a successful people's uprising aimed at establishing democracy in Nepal. Koirala was a prolific writer as well. Koirala died on July 21, 1982.
