KATHMANDU, Aug 25: A total of 49 colleges affiliated/approved by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) have been denied seats for the 2023/24 diploma and certificate level entrance exams.
The CTEVT in a notice said that the seats of 49 colleges have not been approved by the Medical Education Commission (MEC), which has fixed the seats for various subjects for 196 colleges under the CTEVT. The MEC has made a decision on seat allocation based on the details sent to the CTEVT.

An MEC meeting has decided the issue of seat determination for nursing, general medicine, lab technology, radiography, pharmacy and other subjects under the CTEVT.
There are seven educational institutes in Koshi Province, 10 in Madhesh Province, seven in Bagmati Province, six in Gandaki Province, 12 in Lumbini Province, two in Karnali Province and five in Sudurpaschim Province under the program without seat determination.
Earlier, the CTEVT had opened voluntary admissions and fixed fees without consulting the CTEVT. After that, the MEC issued a letter to the CTEVT, requesting to proceed with the work according to the MEC.
