MoHP Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam shared that 326 people in Kathmandu were diagnosed with this viral infection while 37 in Lalitpur and 45 other people in Bhaktapur were reported to have contracted the virus.

Though the district administration offices (DAOs) in the Valley have enforced prohibitory orders since August 19 midnight in view of the rising number of COVID-19 infections, the daily count compiled by the ministry shows that the number of new cases is still on the rise. The Valley witnessed more than 400 cases three days in a row - 445 on Thursday, 454 on Friday and 408 on Saturday.

As many as 5,402 cases have been confirmed in the Valley since August 20. It was on August 23 that the federal capital reported the least number of daily COVID-19 ---166--- while September 1 with 481 cases recorded the highest-ever daily count in the Valley since the country reported the first case of this disease earlier on January 24.

With this, the total number of confirmed cases in the Valley, which is also the federal capital of the country, has soared to 7,492 --- 6,008 in Kathmandu, 850 in Lalitpur and 634 in Bhaktapur--- which accounts for 16.54 percent of the national tally. As of Saturday, Nepal has recorded 45,277 with 1,041 cases in the past 24 hours.
