5 common myths

Junk food causes acne

Chocolates, dairy products have nothing to do with acne. There is nothing such study or evidence that shows the relation between acne and junk food.

Only teenagers have acne

Acne occurs due to the hormonal changes. It even occurs in the late 20s and 30s. Some people can even develop acne in their 40s and 50s.

Blackheads and pimples are caused by dirt in the pores

Oil, dead skin cells and bacteria block the pores making them look black. Hence, taking dirt as the cause of pimples is simply a myth.

You should wash your face more often than those with regular skin

You may be tempted to wash your face as often as you can, but that is not a good way. Washing face too frequently can strip the skin's natural moisture, which will lead to an overproduction of oil and further irritation of the skin.

Toothpaste will dry out your acne

Toothpaste contains harsh ingredients that may irritate the skin even more. Fact is that some toothpaste contains triclosan, an antimicrobial that kills bacteria, so while a dab of toothpaste may help, there are many other effects.

Easy 3 tips to cure pimples

Cleansing with mild face wash

Washing face with mild face cleansers and face wash would make the skin a fair one. Washing 2-3 times a day is enough to make your face clean.

Do not pop out your pimples

When popping out a pimple, it spreads bacteria which results in more infection and even scarring. The scar of the acne remains for a long term which might even need a surgical procedure.

Get enough sleep and avoid stress

Sleeping for 6-7 hours and making oneself free from stress helps bring charm.
