Starting her career in theater with noted litterateur Abhi Subedi’s play ‘Dreams of Peach Blossoms’ in 2001, Loonibha Tuladhar has traversed the Nepali theater having so far enacted in about three dozen plays. Like many others, acting was her childhood fantasy that she lived through with all zeal and dedication. Fully dedicated as a theater artist, she has defined her character afresh in a recent play ‘Vagina Monologues’ and has recently travelled to New Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir to stage the play ‘The Diary of A Young Girl’ which is based on the writings of Anne Frank, a young Dutch girl, during the Nazi atrocities during World War II.

In conversation with My City’s Sonam Lama, the artist talks about the five things that many may not know about her.

When passion came calling

Fond of cooking

One of the things that she can’t do without is cooking. Having grown up in the Newari culture, she is fond of preparing Newari foods and loves applying her culinary skills in varied cuisines. Besides it, she has also tried her hands on Italian cuisines and enjoys her spare time watching YouTube videos on cooking. “I am equally interested in baking and would love to join bakery classes in the near future,” Loonibha said.

Keen traveler

For her the amazing part of travelling is meeting various real-life characters. In particular, she admires travelling by train which she has often done throughout her educational stay in India. She has travelled to about 47 districts of Nepal. She is so far fascinated by the arid beauty of Jomsom, Nepal and Rajasthan, India.

Shopaholic

Be it buying dress from shopping malls or buying groceries from the nearby store, she always has a fun time shopping wherever she sets out to travel. When it comes to buying clothes, she is hardly brand conscious as long as it suits her and matches her comfort.

Fond of embroidery work

As she was fond of designing since childhood, she learnt many embroidery works when attending school. Having also learnt knitting skills from her aunt, she ensures to take some time out of her busy schedule to indulge herself in such creative works of art.

Perfume lover

One of the things she loves experimenting with is perfumes and has purchased a bunch of different brands from the US, Dubai and the UK. Most of her favorites include Lolita Lempicka, Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, 5th Avenue, Miracle from Lancôme, light blue from Dolce & Gabbana, et cetera. “I like to smell both mild and strong scent depending on the season and weather,” she added.
