A rare combination of demure and dauntless personality, Sahara Basnet witnessed a turning point in her life after winning the title of Miss Asia Pacific International Nepal 2017. Holding a childhood dream of making her mark in beauty pageants, she represented Nepal in Miss Asia Pacific International 2017 held in the Philippines.
Having completed her graduation in business management from Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM), she is currently occupied with photo shoots and is looking forward to earning advanced degree in business.
In conversation with My City’s Sonam Lama, Sahara revealed the five things that many may not know about her.
Cotton Mill
Ardent video gamer
Popular as a gaming girl among her friends of Miss Nepal 2017 pageant, she started with gaming while in her school. She once remembers playing Far Cry 3 to such an extent that she only managed to sleep for three hours. She has also won a silver medal in counter strike. “Following my participation in the pageant, I could not continue with games. However, I am now looking forward to playing Grand Theft Auto (GTA), Call of Duty and Far Cry 4 and 5,” said Sahara.
Sports lover
She is fond of playing football and basketball to any other games. She often follows football matches of her favorite players Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil, and her favorite club Arsenal. Having played several matches as a goalkeeper in college tournaments, she was also one of the players of her basketball team called ‘neon girls’.
Into thriller and horror movies
She is fascinated by movies that make her think and run her imagination wild. Of all the genres, she likes watching action and psycho thriller series and movies. “Friends, Avatar: The Last Airbender and South Park are my favorite series. I equally enjoy watching horror movies even though I get chills watching them,” she added.
Animal lover
Her parents are quite used to with her habit of rescuing animals and birds and providing them shelter at her home. She admires adopting animals and currently owns two dogs, Lucky and Oreo as her pets. “My pets are very close to me. They sleep with me and I prefer calling them my sons,” she added.
Minimal make-up
She is much of a person who can pull off her style without a stitch of make-up. A stroke of eye liner teamed with a funky colored top was her definition to being girlish before. However, her make-up style had a massive transformation after her participation as a contestant in Miss Nepal 2017.“I have recently started become familiar with wearing a complete make-up starting with primer to foundation and a bit of concealer and contouring,” she added.
