TANAHUN, July 13: As many as six people have died and five others have gone missing in three separate incidents of landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in various parts of Tanahu district.
Three persons died in Byas Rural Municipality-9, Manjhphat when the house of a local Keshar Thapa was buried by a landslide that occurred on Monday morning. The deceased have been identified as Kamala Thapa, 40, Manoj Thapa, 24 and Anjana Thapa, 21, according to Tanahu District Police Chief Arun Poudel.

While Keshar Thapa sustained severe injuries, Rajesh Thapa, 19, has gone missing during the incident. Injured Thapa is being taken to Tanahu district headquarters Damauli for further treatment.
Meanwhile, a 60-year-old Maiti Kumari Thapa died in a separate landslide incident in Byas Municipality-5 in the district. A similar landslides incident in Myagde Rural Municipality in the district also claimed the life of Laxmi BK, 17, while a Bhesh Bahadur Thapa,30, died when the house of a local Aan Bahadur Thapa was buried by landslide in Rishing Rural Municipality-8, Bhaisikhili. Four others are still missing and one other was left injured in the incident.
Local people, Nepal Police and Nepal Army personnel have been mobilized to carry out search and rescue operations. Most of the rivers and streams in the district have reported a surge in water levels due to incessant rainfall since Sunday evening.
