63 percent of eligible population of KMC fully vaccinated against coronavirus

KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Sixty-three percent of the eligible population has been given full doses of vaccines against the coronavirus in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC). 

According to the KMC Public Health Department, 63 percent of the eligible population has received the full dose of the vaccines while 75 percent have received the first shot so far. The KMC has forwarded vaccination campaigns in an effective manner as the cases of coronavirus have been rising in recent times. 

Chief of KMC Public Health Department, Hari Kunwar said that the vaccination program has been accelerated for those remaining to be administered the second dose and the eligible citizens remaining to get both doses of the vaccine. There are 1.563 million people from eligible groups to be vaccinated in Kathmandu.

The vaccination program is being run from 11 places, out of 32, of KMC daily while the vaccination program is being operated at four main checkpoints of entry to the Kathmandu Valley by deploying health teams, according to the KMC. 

Kunwar further said that the vaccine program should be made more effective in order to lessen human casualties from the coronavirus as the cases of coronavirus and number of deaths are increasing in many countries of the world including neighboring India. 

"Citizens themselves should be aware of the risk. People should follow the health safety protocols issued by the government. The possible losses from the coronavirus infection can be reduced this time too if everyone cooperates."

Of the total population of the country, 35.9 percent population have got the full dose of vaccines against COVID-19 while the first dose of the vaccines has been administered to 48.5 percent population so far.
