KATHMANDU, Sept 3: A total of 65 mountaineers have received permits from the Government of Nepal to ascend mountain peaks in this autumn after the government opened climbing for the season this year.
According to the Department of Tourism, it issued permits to 65 aspiring climbers in the first lot. These mountaineers have received permits to climb Mt Manaslu and Raksha Urai Himal for autumn.
160 climbers receive permits to climb Mt Manaslu
Rakesh Gurung, director at the Adventure and Mountaineering Unit of the department, informed Republica that Imagine Nepal Treks has been given the task of 'rope fixing' in Mt Manaslu. According to him, the authority has started at the earliest to make the necessary structure on the mountains citing an encouraging number of climbers for Mt Manaslu.
Of the total number of climbers, 57 men and eight women from 20 countries have taken permits to climb these two mountains. According to the department, the government has collected Rs 7.36 million in royalties by issuing the permits.
