KATHMANDU, April 24: Small Farmer Development Bank (SFDB), in partnership with 636 affiliated cooperatives, has provided loans worth Rs 35 billion to 650,000 earthquake-affected people and small farmers.
According to the bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in collaboration with Government of Nepal under 'Disaster Risk Reduction and Livelihoods Restoration for Earthquake Affected Communities (DRRLREAC) Project' has provided SFDB Credit line of US$ 5.5 million to help revive livelihoods of 12,500 affected small farmers to address the needs of earthquake-affected small and marginalized farmers, micro entrepreneurs and poor people.
"The support also includes grants of $1.5 million for skills development training for building quake-resistant houses and technical training to strengthen operation of cooperatives," the bank said in a statement.
The project has set a target of providing credit worth Rs 750 million to 12,500 earthquake-affected small farmer households in Dhading, Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts, according to the statement.
