69 including 15 lawmakers of federal parliament test positive for COVID-19, one succumbs to the virus

KATHMANDU, May 8:  As many as 69 individuals including 15 lawmakers have tested positive for COVID-19 in the test conducted by the parliament secretariat.


According to the Parliament Secretariat, a total of 69 individuals including 15 lawmakers and other employees and security personnel have tested positive for COVID-19 as of Friday evening.

Likewise, Under Secretary Krishna Khanal, who was serving at the Federal Parliament, died of COVID-19 on Friday morning. He had been working at the Law Section of the Parliament Secretariat since a few months ago. 


The parliament secretariat had collected swab samples of members of parliament, employees and security personnel serving at the federal parliament secretariat in New Baneshwar for COVID-19 tests two days earlier. The swabs were collected as the Special Session of the Federal Parliament is scheduled to begin from May 10. 


Of the total 1,234 swabs collected for COVID-19 tests on May 5, 6, and 7, a test report of 6,14 people have been received as of Friday evening.
