Eight arrested for customs evasion at Rasuwagadhi checkpoint in four months

RASUWA, Dec 4: In the first quarter of the current fiscal year, Nepal Police have apprehended eight individuals involved in attempting to evade customs at Rasuwagadhi checkpoint. Subas Budhathoki, chief of the District Police Office, reported that confiscated goods worth Rs 33.1 million have been sent to Rasuwa District Court, Timure, for further legal proceedings.

RASUWA, Dec 4: In the first quarter of the current fiscal year, Nepal Police have apprehended eight individuals involved in attempting to evade customs at Rasuwagadhi checkpoint. Subas Budhathoki, chief of the District Police Office, reported that confiscated goods worth Rs 33.1 million have been sent to Rasuwa District Court, Timure, for further legal proceedings.


Budhathoki explained that the goods, imported from China, were seized at various locations, including Rasuwagadhi, Ghatekhola, Timure, and Syafru Bensi, while being transported to Kathmandu via trucks and other vehicles.

Both the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force are deployed at the Rasuwagadhi checkpoint to curb such activities. In the previous year, customs-evaded goods worth Rs 15.1 million were recovered, and submitted to the Customs Office, Timure for legal action.


The district police office has, until now, presented 14 cases related to various incidents through the district government attorney to the court. These cases cover diverse issues such as drug offenses, murder, theft, and more.
