87 manufacturing firms proposed to invest Rs 122 billion during mid-July and mid-October

KATHMANDU, Dec 6: A total of 87 firms have proposed to invest Rs 122 billion to set up their manufacturing plants in the country in the first three months of the current fiscal year.

KATHMANDU, Dec 6: A total of 87 firms have proposed to invest Rs 122 billion to set up their manufacturing plants in the country in the first three months of the current fiscal year.


The records with the Department of Industry (DOI) show that the aforementioned amount for investment was proposed by both foreign and domestic manufacturing companies during mid-July and mid-October this year. These manufacturers have sought to provide employment to 8,134 individuals.

Out of 87 manufacturers, the DoI registered 26 firms under large industries. Similarly, 34 were registered as medium industries and 27 as small industries.


Likewise, the DoI approved 107 foreign projects during the review period. These projects have proposed to invest Rs 24 billion and to provide employment to 7,195 people.


The DoI registered 910 trademarks and five designs in the review period. The government body filed 54 cases related to trademark issues.
