Accident insurance up to Rs 2 million for each person involved in election work

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The government is planning to insure an amount of Rs 2 million to all those involved in election process in case of personal accidents or external attack during the elections to be held on November 20.

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The government is planning to insure an amount of Rs 2 million to all those involved in election process in case of personal accidents or external attack during the elections to be held on November 20. 


This has been mentioned in the Election Commission House of Representatives and Province Assembly Member Election Conduct (Financial Management) Procedure 2079.

As per the new arrangement, the Election Commissioner involved in the work of the election, officials at the EC Secretariat, the staff members of the EC, voters’ education volunteers, monitors, members of the monitoring team, personal security officers (PSOs), experts appointed for specialized services, volunteers and other people directly involved in the election work at the polling station and counting place will be provided with the insurance benefit.


However, the number of insured people and duration of the insurance will be as mentioned in the procedure determined by the EC.
