Accused including ex-home minister Khand presented before court for remand extension

KATHMANDU, May 14: Those arrested in connection with the fake Bhutanese refugee scam were produced before the Kathmandu District Court by the police on Sunday.


The District Police Complex Kathmandu, which is investigating various cases of fraud, organized crime etc, produced the accused at the district court requesting permission to keep them in custody for more time saying that the investigation has not been completed.

According to District Court Kathmandu Information Officer Deepak Dahal, the police have produced those arrested in this case before the court. However, the decision to extend their remand has not been made.


In this case, former home minister Bal Krishna Khand, former home secretary Tek Narayan Pandey, former home minister Ram Bahadur Thapa's security advisor Indrajit Rai, Keshav Dulal (former foreign minister Sujata Koirala’s PA), Sanu Bhandari and others have been arrested by the police. The police brought them to the court, asking for permission to increase their judicial custody for further investigation.
