KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Activist Iih is set to embark on a foot journey from Lumbini to Singha Durbar starting Sunday, demanding the federal government's intervention in supporting street vendors, managing the informal sector and addressing urban poverty.
The journey, which is scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM and continue until February 19, will be documented on Twitter (X).

"In advocating for the rights of street vendors, addressing the challenges of the large informal sector (which accounts for 62 percent of employment), and standing up for the urban poor, we will march from Lumbini to Singha Durbar," announced activist Iih. "From February 11 (Sunday morning at 8:30 AM) until February 19, we invite all concerned individuals to join us on this journey."
Iih has put forth three key demands. The first demand calls for municipalities nationwide to formulate administrative policies regarding street vendors and the informal sector, ensuring that the urban poor are not displaced without proper study and providing guidance within the framework of the law and constitution.
The second demand emphasizes the need to safeguard the interests of the urban poor, while the third demand seeks support for initiatives aimed at managing street vendors, promoting the informal sector and nurturing small-scale enterprises at the local level.
Additionally, the journey will include solidarity events in support of the justice march against loan sharking.
