The local contractors, workers, and suppliers have been agitating calling for payment of their due amount after the Italian construction company CMC quit works of the project without completing it. The local contractors had prevented the construction company that had got the contract from starting works before this. But they agreed to allow the construction company to carry out works after reaching a two-point agreement during a meeting on Monday.

The meeting of the stakeholders was convened at the initiation of the Chief District Officer of Sindhupalchok, Goma Devi Chemjong. Uttar Kumar Shrestha, president of the local struggle committee, said that they would again obstruct the project's works if their demand was not addressed within July 6.
