BIRATNAGAR, Jan 9: A clash erupted between the agitated student protestors and security personnel at Nobel Medical College in Biratnagar on Sunday as the students refusing to pay additional fees were denied entry in the class. The college was vandalized in the clash that broke out after security guards tried to stop the student protestors from entering the college premises.
A number of students and security guards have been injured. The students who had gathered at the main gate of the college to stage a hunger strike were met with pharmacists and staff of the college who protested against the students' demonstrations.

According to the students, the fight broke out after the security guards started assaulting one of the protesting students. The college administration, which has been conducting classes since December 26 under the direction of the District Administration Office, Morang, had stopped classes from December 29, stating that the students had not paid their additional fees.
A total of 96 students are enrolled in the college. Among them, nine are Indian nationals, 10 are the recipients of government scholarships and five others are those who have paid extra tuition fees.
The students maintained that they were forced to start the protests after the college administration kicked them out of the classroom, asking them to pay extra fees other than the amount determined by the Medical Education Commission.
According to Rajesh Nepal, Director at Nobel Medical College, the college was vandalized by outsiders who portrayed themselves as students of the college. “Four employees of the college sustained minor injuries due to bricks and stones thrown by them. The hospital was forced to stop its service for almost two hours due to the incident,” Nepal said.
