On the occasion, Dahal strongly opposed the government’s recent decision to issue an ordinance to make the first amendment to Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Powers and Procedures) Act stating that the party was kept in the dark even while taking such crucial decisions which could have long-term ramifications in the national politics.
In response, Oli told Dahal that he was forced to bring the ordinance as the Constitutional Council failed to make decisions due to lack of quorum even as several posts at constitutional bodies remained vacant for a long time.
A fresh intra-party rift has begun in the ruling party as the two rival factions—one led by Oli and other by Dahal--are at loggerheads over the ordinance.
