AI Nepal calls on government to follow court order regarding Adhikari's murder

POKHARA, Sept 12: Amnesty International (AI) Nepal has passed a special proposal, calling on the government to abide by the court verdict over the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Fujel, Gorkha.


The 25th General Assembly of the AI Nepal concluded in Pokhara endorsed the proposal, expressing solidarity to the demand of Ganga Maya Adhikari, mother of Krishna Prasad, who is on a hunger strike for long, seeking justice to her murdered son. 


Speaking at a press meet organized here today to share the decisions of general assembly, organization General Secretary Lekhnath (Laxmi) Niraula said the special proposal was endorsed, demanding justice to the victim and his family.

It may be noted that Krishna Prasad was allegedly killed by the then rebelling CPN -Maoist party after abduction in Chitwan on June 6, 2004 as he was there to meet his grandparents. 


Likewise, the general assembly held the voting for the organization's national working committee and Appellate Committee as well. The new working committee headed by Rajan Kuinkel comprised Dhurab Ray as vice chair, Lekhnath Niraual as General Secretary and Yashoda Upadhyay as Deputy General Secretary. 


Similarly, the Appellate Committee comprises Keshab Pokhrel as a coordinator while Basanta Subedi and Prabha Adhikari have been elected as the members. 


The AI Nepal's general assembly was inaugurated on September 9 by former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav. RSS
