Air services in Karnali disrupted due to snowfall

KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Heavy snowfall in Karnali Province has disrupted air services in the mountainous districts including Jumla.

KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Heavy snowfall in Karnali Province has disrupted air services in the mountainous districts including Jumla.


Santosh Adhikari, chief of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Jumla said that the flights of Sita Air, Summit Air, Tara Air and Nepal Airlines to Jumla, Mugu, Humla and Dolpa from Nepalgunj and Surkhet have been disrupted due to snowfall since Monday night.

Passengers traveling to and from the remote areas of Karnali Province have been stranded due to the sudden snowfall and suspension of air services. Jumla Airport is covered in a foot deep snow. Air services from Surkhet to Nepalgunj were also affected on Tuesday.


This is the first time air services have come to a halt in Jumla this year due to snowfall.
