All-party meeting underway at Sheetal Niwas, UML absent

KATHMANDU, Aug 22: An all-party meeting is underway at the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas. The main opposition party CPN-UML is absent in the all-party meeting called by President Ramchandra Paudel.

KATHMANDU, Aug 22: An all-party meeting is underway at the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas. The main opposition party CPN-UML is absent in the all-party meeting called by President Ramchandra Paudel.


The President is engaging in discussions with various parties excluding the CPN-UML. In the all-party meeting, discussions are being held on contemporary political issues including the resumption of parliament.

The CPN-UML has been blocking parliament since July 26. The President has expressed interest in the matter and has already discussed it with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, leader of the main opposition party KP Sharma Oli, Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire and National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsena. On the other hand, officials of the UML said that the party did not participate in today's meeting saying that the President has shown unnecessary interest in this matter.
