Docskool’s Clinik.Kathmandu program will hold its 6th edition between December 3 to December 8 in Kathmandu. According to a press statement released by Docskool, the workshop will be attended by 10 projects and 6 advisors coming from different parts of South Asia.
Clinik.Kathmandu is Docskool’s film project development program for Nepali and South Asian filmmakers started in 2014. It has since supported 30 plus feature films from across the region. Annually Clinik.Kathmandu’s labs have focused on script and production support provided through one or more workshops.

The 2019 Clinik Documentary Lab has a specific focus on cinema of Sri Lanka and Nepal, where workshops were conducted by Docskool earlier this year. These workshops also worked as a pre-selection process for the final participants. The final 10 projects appearing in December have undergone over 3 months of personal advisory to their projects. These advisory sessions were conducted in both Colombo and Kathmandu by Docskool advisors as per the press statement.
This upcoming workshop has further confirmed six advisors who come from diverse experience. Advisors for the Documentary Lab are Heidi Grouneur, Director of ZeLIG Documentary film School in Italy, Nilotpal Majumdar – Head of Docedge Kolkata, John Badalu – Film Programmer and founder of Q Film Festival in Jakarta, Salome Jashi – filmmaker/advisor from Georgia, Andrew Laning – filmmaker/ advisor from Netherlands and Kshitiz Adhiraj – founder of Docskool.
Abhimanyu Dixit’s ‘Chasing Rainbows’, Sachin Ghimire’s ‘PuntekoPangro’, Asmita Shirish’s ‘Auntie Ganga’ will be representing Nepal for the workshop. Other participants will include Lahiru Madushanka and Lekha Edirisinghe, Sameera Sethanayage, Rinoshan Sumiman from Sri Lanka.
A total of three filmmakers from the Women in Cinema Fellowships will also be joining this event. They are HayaIqbal (Pakistan), Rawyan Sayema (Bangladesh) and Madubhasini Rattnayake (Sri lanka).
The weeklong event will provide personal advisory towards story development of the documentaries. A closing pitch will be organised on December 8, the pitch is open for the public. A few other sessions involving screening and discussions/, master class are also open to the public.
Docskool will provide the Freedom Filmmaker Award to one filmmaker. Other supports provided will include selections for DocedgeKolkata and IFFR Rotterdam Labs.
