The ongoing lockdown expires at midnight on Wednesday.

Likewise, the meeting decided to halt the mobility of people across the porous border between Nepal and India until April 30.

The cabinet also decided to suspend international flights until April 30 to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus.

All government services other than essential have been shut down, domestic and international flights have been suspended and people's movement has been restricted across the country. The country went into lockdown since March 24.

As of today, Nepal has 16 coronavirus active cases including one case of recovery.

Earlier today, neighboring India, which shares open and porous border with Nepal, extended the nationwide lockdown for nearly three more weeks, until May 3. COVID-19 cases have been increasing there in recent days with 339 deaths and 10,000 infections.
