In your view, what are the key elements that are required to be an effective director?

Back then, I actively used to pay attention to the factors that were mandatory in my work. Research-based works hold much significance to coordinate well with the subject matter. Prior to turning movies into a visual representation of printed ideas, planning is essential to allocate time and assign responsibilities as per the nature of work. Moreover, I believe discipline and accuracy are inescapable tools required to enhance professional prowess at work.

You have portrayed several real-life roles, of that of a songwriter, poet, and a director; how different has each experience been?

Working as a writer and a director allowed me to experience different sets of challenges and shortcomings. Writing is similar to meditation. It is quite liberal and does not require multiple resources. Filmmaking is a bit more challenging as it comprises collaborative efforts with the entire team. Unlike writing, planning is crucial to run directorial ventures.

What can filmmakers do to ensure further progress of the Nepali film industry?

Film industry seeks creativity and prosperity by incorporating artistic values. These activities should be led at an individual and team level with the state and concerned authorities coordinating to work in cohesion. A huge tragedy is that it has been three years since the National Film Policy has been drafted and yet it is only limited to papers. Moreover, the inclusion of film studies in the high school curriculum with can be much of much help to enhance the sector.
