NEPALGUNJ, March 2: An ultra-modern building is going to be constructed in the Nepalgunj airport office complex. According to the 20-year master plan of the airport office, infrastructure including runways, parking areas, etc are going to be constructed at a cost of around Rs 3 billion.
Sharma & Company has signed a contract for the said construction work. According to the contractor company, the work on the ultra-modern terminal building started on December 16, 2022. According to the agreement, the construction of the terminal building will be completed by December 15, 2025.

According to the latest terminal building standards, it will be built for both domestic and international flights, including customs, immigration, and quarantine facilities, according to related officials.
Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kirati along with high officials inspected the Nepalgunj Airport area. Minister Kirati, who arrived at the airport on Wednesday with senior officials, inspected the necessary physical infrastructure including the under-construction ultra-modern terminal building.
During the inspection, he took information about the work progress. Instructing the construction company to complete the work within the specified time, Minister Kirati said that after the completion of the work according to the master plan, the way will be opened for international flights from Nepalgunj Airport.
"A beautiful and convenient terminal building is being built. It is also the government's aim to serve the people of the western hilly areas by making Nepalgunj airport in the city of western Nepal as a center," he said. Meanwhile, Saurabh Sharma, the representative of the contractor company, promised to complete the construction work of the two-story ultra-modern terminal building before the specified time.
"In the next 6 to 7 months, the scaffolding work will be completed and then it may take us as much as one and a half years to complete the building," said Sharma.
He said that there was a shortage of materials some time ago, but now about a quarter of construction materials are kept in stock. He claims that 10 percent physical progress has been made within two months of the construction work.
Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Pradip Adhikari said that work at Nepalgunj airport is going according to the master plan. "According to the master plan, the construction work of the terminal building has started. We have extended the runway of Nepalgunj Airport to 1800 meters, we have to add another 700 meters of runway, all this work has been done according to the master plan," he said. According to the master plan, the terminal building is going to be constructed in an area of about 8,000 square feet.
