BIRGUNJ, March 22: The case of a ten-year-old girl being gang-raped was still creating a stir when yet another minor was raped in Parsa on Tuesday.
A twelve-year-old girl of Jhabaraha of Parsagadhi Municipality was raped by her neighbor when she was changing her uniform at her home after returning from school. According to District Police Office (DPO), Parsa, the perpetrator raped the girl by taking advantage of the absence of her family members at her home.
Minor raped in Kalikot, one arrested
Police have arrested Sitaram Paudel on a charge of raping the minor. After the incident, the injured and mentally disturbed girl had informed her parents about the happening.
Poudel was nabbed immediately after victim's parents informed the police about the incident, said Inspector Ganesh Regmi of the DPO. After undergoing a medical test, victim is currently getting treatment at Birgunj-based Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital.
Two weeks ago, a ten-year-old girl of Paterwa Sugauli Rural Municipality-5, Nichuta was gang raped. Likewise, two months ago, a Muslim girl of Sakhuwa Parsauni Rural Municipality was gang-raped by four boys of her own community. Social organizations working for the welfare of girls and woman have expressed their concerns regarding one after another rape cases in the district.
