Anti-human rights incidents rife in Baitadi

BAITADI, Dec 10: Baitadi district has witnessed 30 anti-human rights incidents during the past six months when the country is gearing to mark the 68th International Human Rights Day today with fanfare.

BAITADI, Dec 10: Baitadi district has witnessed 30 anti-human rights incidents during the past six months when the country is gearing to mark the 68th International Human Rights Day today with fanfare. 


According to INSEC, Baitadi, total 30 incidents of human rights violation took place in the district since last mid-June.

Among the anti-human rights incidents are six relating to torture, 19 manhandle, one rape, one attempted rape, one misbehave and two murder, shared Naru Badu, a representative of INSEC. 

As many as 108 women have so far lodged complaints of gender-based violence at the District Police Office since January 2016. Likewise, 17 women, 13 men and a child had committed suicide in the district since January.


Meanwhile, some 91 complaints of human rights violations have been registered at the sub-regional office of National Human Rights Commission in Khotang in the past one year. 

The complaints lodged include 55 of Khotang, 13 of Solukhumbu, 12 of Okhaldhunga and 11 of Bhojpur. RSS
