APF goes top, Police ends Army’s winning run

KATHMANDU, Jan 25: The departmental teams Armed Police Force (APF) Club and Nepal Police Club have won two straight matches in the ongoing 14th Dhorpatan Double League Volleyball Tournament on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, Jan 25: The departmental teams Armed Police Force (APF) Club and Nepal Police Club have won two straight matches in the ongoing 14th Dhorpatan Double League Volleyball Tournament on Thursday. 


With the wins, the defending champion APF has climbed up to the top of the table with 15 points from five games. 


APF defeated the host Dhorpatan Club 25-2, 25-4, 25-5 on straight sets, while in the second game, it saw off Chitwan Tigress on straight sets of 25-7, 25-4, 25-20.

Police, winning two consecutive games, has climbed up to the second place. With the wins, Police has 12 points from four games. 


It beat Thaha Municipality of Makawanpur on straight sets of 25-8, 25-14, 25-18 in its first match, while it defeated the other departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club on straight sets of 25-16, 25-23, 26-24 ending Army’s winning run and pushing the team down to the third place. Army has 12 points from five matches. 


In the other match played on the same day, Samakhusi English Boarding (SEB) School saw off Western Region 27-25, 20-25, 17-25, 25-22, 15-8 to stay intact in the fifth place with eight points. 


Shree Gaun Sports Development Committee of Dang is fourth with nine points. 


Chitwan Tigress will take on Thaha Municipality in the first game on Friday, while in the second match, Tigress will take on SEB School. Likewise, Western Region will play against Thaha Municipality in the third. Similarly, Police will face the host Dhorpatan in the fourth and Western and Tigress will go head-to-head in the last match of the day.
